Vidyadhara Memokeeper Yuanxiang

The Vidyadhara are an ancient race, bearing enough legends to match, but there is one rarely spoken to outsiders that tells thus:During rebirth our minds are washed by the sea, and we are renewed in body alike. But where, one might ask, do those memories go? In the depths of our homewaters lies an unseen elder, one who flits between the corals and gathers those discarded dreams. With love, he polishes each into a shining pearl, tucked away in a dragon’s trove that contains the breadth of our history.Do not fear this life’s end, my dear, for it shall be held safe in that garden; may your nightmares be whisked away by that keeper’s gentle hand, replaced with a tranquil rest for your homecoming.IICharacter Page [HSR]
First Meeting
Ah, so you can see me? What a pleasant surprise. I am Yuanxiang, though “The ghost of the Luofu”, “The Dream Keeper”, or just “Old Man” also work.
Greeting
Is something bothering you? Would you like me to take a look?
Parting
Remember, you can always come to me if you’re having trouble sleeping.
About Self: Duty
The Vidyadhara may shed our memories alongside our rebirths, but all who live fear losing the memories closest to their hearts. By the grace of Fuli I am the keeper of the brightest moments of my people’s former selves.
About Self: Dreams
My people place great importance on our dreams, especially those experienced during and after rebirth. As the caretaker of the waterscape’s dreamscape, it is my duty to guide them out of their nightmares.
Chat:
It is unusual for most to be able to see me outside of their dreams. While I can choose to reveal myself to the material world, I typically prefer not to.
Chat:
How old am I? [Laughing] Do you go around asking every elder that?
Chat:
I try not to impose unless it is a matter of import, but should you wish to visit me you will always be welcome. Many come to me for help, but usually I find that they just want someone to talk to.
Hobbies
I have come to collect a great many objects in my life, each swelling with memoria. Though I gather formerly loved items to collect the memories they hold, this has apparently garnered me a reputation as an antiques dealer.
Annoyances
I have no patience for those who cannot comprehend the importance of little joys.
Something to Share
As descendants of dragons, some Vidyadhara have unique constitutional traits that remain from incarnation to incarnation. For example, some of us are born able to condense our thoughts and emotions into pearls, which is where we get the turn of phrase “Pearls of Wisdom”. Hm? You don’t believe me? Would you like to see one?
Knowledge
While I routinely perform maintenance on my own memories, I ensure that they are all neatly categorized and filed for storage. Should you have any questions about the history of the Vidyadhara or the Luofu, I can retrieve them for you.
About Dan Heng
He does not deserve the burden he was dealt by those who cannot look past his former life’s mistakes. I do hope his journey is healing for him.
Dan Heng: About Yuanxiang
For all my childhood, I believed he was an invention of my mind to ease my loneliness. Finding out that he isn’t was something of a shock.
About Jing Yuan
The General? He is one of the few who sees me as I am. As for the nature of our relationship… Well, I think it would be best to keep that to myself. For his sake.
About Bailu
I count the Vidyadhara as my grandchildren in a spiritual sense, but she is like a beloved great grandchild. I cannot do much for her situation in the waking world, but I hope I can bring her some comfort in her dreams.
About Hanya
Due to her interrogative methods, she occasionally wanders into my domain, so I see her as a neighbour. Neither she nor her sister deserve the perpetual purgatory they are trapped in.
About Yanqing
The General may never use the phrasing, but he is immensely proud of that boy in the way a father is about a beloved son.
About Blade
Having known him in his previous life through Dan Feng, his current situation is truly heartbreaking. I do hope he can find the release he desires - preferably without stabbing Dan Heng again.
About Black Swan
Of my coworkers, she is one of the most tolerable.
Eidolon Activation
May the dream we call life be ever pleasant.
Character Ascension
And so we wake again to another day.

Hello
Lovely to meet you, I am Yuanxiang, Mem-- Ah, my apologies. Force of habit. I am Yuanxiang, a travelling archivist. Should you have a need for my services, I can direct you to my current employer… For you, he may be willing to negotiate.
Chat: Work
When you have time, would you care to tell me about your travel experiences over a cup of tea? Someone like you must have many stories that should be preserved.
Chat: Curiosity
If I may have a moment, I think I’ve spotted something that warrants closer inspection.
Chat: Idle Thoughts
Dreams are the mind’s way of processing large volumes of memories and emotions. I’ve always found them to be very telling of someone’s mental state.
When it Rains
Ah, don’t worry about me. I find the rain relaxing.
When Thunder Strikes
You haven’t angered anyone recently, have you?
When it Snows
I will admit that dealing with cold air isn’t my forte.
In the Desert
Sand without its ocean… What a dreadful concept.
Good Morning
I hope this day greets you well. Did you have a good sleep?
Good Afternoon
An afternoon walk is sure to perk you up. Shall we?
Good Evening
Would you care for a trip to the markets? There are a few antiques dealers in town at the moment, and I would like to have a look through their collections.
Good Night
Have a good sleep. Remember, if you need me, you can always call.
About (self)
Why am I collecting memories? Well, that is quite simple. Doesn’t everyone have the right to be remembered?
About (self)
Memories and Dreams are made of the same substance, and mostly differ in their creation and function. While I am skilled in manipulating both, I hold myself to a very high standard when it comes to looking into the minds of the living. To me, the most important thing is not to overstep any boundaries, as that creates a breach in trust. How am I to properly catalogue someone’s memories if they don’t trust me?
About Us (traveller)
Should you come across me in your dreams, feel free to say hello. I would be happy to have a more open conversation with you there.
About Us
I’m certain that by now you’ve realized I’m not of this place. If you would like someone to talk to about the world outside, you know where to find me.
About Vision
Between us, this is simply a bauble made of glass. My practices don’t require acknowledgement from the gods of this land, but it does diffuse a lot of questions.
Something to Share
The crafting techniques of Liyue are remarkably similar to those used in my adopted homeland. Walking through the markets there fills me with a deep nostalgia.
Interesting Things
Memories can condense in almost anything, including water. In water, they form little bubbles, and you can fish them up like flotsam if you have the right kind of net.
About Zhongli
Ah yes, my… ‘Employer’. He is the one who loaned me this vessel, both for my own benefit as well as his, from my understanding. Of course, I too have my own intentions in this arrangement, but from my perspective he is something of a kindred soul; nurturing a nation and yet having to let them go is a kind of melancholy that most are unequipped to handle.
About Hu Tao
Director Hu? She is a delightful little menace, and I can tell Zhongli cares for her deeply even if he professes that they only have an employer/employee relationship.
About Alice
She was the second person who found me after my arrival - apparently, it was difficult to track me until I stepped into this borrowed vessel. Of course, I have assured her that I am under watch and not here to cause any trouble, though she strikes me as the type to be causing more mischief herself.
About Xiao
He is one of the “tasks” Zhongli assigned to me, due to my ability to manage memories. Part of his trouble is accidentally ingesting the leaking memories of the god remains he cleans up, and I have been aiding in removing those from him.
About Xianyun
Lady Xianyun is a delightful conversation partner, you know, and her work is immensely impressive. Were any of my grandchildren here, I would not hesitate to have them spend the day with her; I am certain they would learn a lot.
About Qiqi
The poor dear, I’ve had a look at her but there is only so much I can do. Unfortunately, what she suffers from is very much a physical phenomena, and regenerative medicine is not exactly my wheelhouse.
About Baizhu
Qiqi’s caretaker… He is peculiar, don’t you think? I cannot tell if he can see through me or not, but there is a hunger in his eyes that I cannot place.
About Neuvilette
I had steeled myself to be met with cold resolve considering the reason I was sent to meet with him, but his trepidation melted the moment he realized I too am a draconic descendent in a humanoid vessel. Quite bluntly, he is adorable, even if I’m certain he still doesn’t fully trust me.
About Furina
Though she is outwardly quite the character, I have seen the occasional distant look in her eye that belies a deeper world. Perhaps she will be willing to talk about it one day, and I will have a seat at the tea table ready for her when she is.
About Chiori
Oh, did you see the showcase she did? I walked into her shop one day on recommendation from Director Hu, and was cornered by her until I agreed to model some pieces. Not that I particularly mind - I am quite the fashion enthusiast myself - but her intensity is both charming and intimidating for someone only half my height.
About Sigewinne
She and her sisters are simply the sweetest things, don’t you think? To me the melusine are simply the pinnacle of cuteness, I completely understand Monsieur Neuvilette’s urge to dote upon them constantly.
About Wriothesly
I met the fellow by accident when I was sucked down a pipe during a swim - He is very reasonable for someone in his position, and was willing to forgive the incident if I repaired the grate… Perhaps it helped that Sigewinne was willing to vouch for me, as well.
About Aino
For such a brilliant child, her diet concerns me. Perhaps it isn’t my place to intervene, but I can’t help but want to feed her a proper meal. Do you think she likes seafood?
About Flins
Now that is a man who understands the joy of well-loved objects. There are few who I would trust with any of my collection, but I believe he would do them justice.
About Lauma
Some of the children in nod-krai mistook me for a frost-moon scion, which led to something of an awkward conversation when I finally encountered her.
About Varka
He looks loud and boisterous, but that only seems to be true with a drink in hand or a squad to rally. I would rather like to have a cup of tea with him, and see what is on the other side.
More about (self): I
I have been an archivist for a very long time. As much as there is a need for those who preserve history, there is also a need for those who go out into the world and retrieve it. Though this trip is focused on oral histories, my specialty lies in teasing out the histories of objects - Unfortunately, this means people often mistake me for an antiques dealer.
More about (self): II
My horns? Ah… How do I put this. They were a cultural misunderstanding. It seems as though here, they simply make me look like an adeptus, but where I come from they are akin to wearing a royal crown. My draconic heritage may be genuine, but the horns feel like an honour that I am undeserving of.
More about (self): III
The teas in this world are delightful, and I am impressed by the skill of the craftspeople who make the teaware. While I have kept my old memories of tea well maintained, it is delightful to be able to update them and compare notes. For example, much of the high mountain tea has to be imported where I was living, which tends to give it more time to ferment. The high mountain teas here, meanwhile, are local, with a floral sweetness that I rarely tasted back home.
More about (self): IV
Strictly speaking, I am meant to be an impartial observer during my time here, but I hope you can understand: If someone asks me for help, I simply cannot find it within myself to refuse them.
More about (self): V
My grandchildren? [Laughs] Well, perhaps that is a misunderstanding. I have guided my people through their rebirths so many times that I consider them all like grandchildren to me, but there are only two in particular who I am personal enough with to be considered my actual family.
Yuanxiang’s Hobbies
As much as I stress that I am not an antiques dealer, I will admit to being something of a collector. I have always been drawn to objects that harbour long histories and strong memories.
Yuanxiang’s Troubles
The only nation here moist enough for my liking is Fontaine, but my employer simply refuses to visit there. I understand his reasoning, of course, but I suppose I will have to content myself with visiting Chenyu Vale more often.
Favorite Food
Most people seem to fear Melusine cuisine, which I simply don’t understand. Of the nations I have visited, their tastes are the most similar to the traditional foods of my homeland.
Least Favorite Food
A certain Monsieur cautioned me against eating those charcoal-baked cakes in Sumeru, and having now seen them for myself, I cannot help but concur. I know they are meant to be eaten with accompaniments, but surely there is no reason to dehydrate them that much in the first place.
Receiving a Gift: I (great food)
Being without a body may have many benefits, but a downside is being unable to appreciate food. It has been far too long since I tasted anything this delectable.
Receiving a Gift: II (acceptable food)
I am still getting used to eating again, but thank you for making the experience pleasant.
Receiving a Gift: III (bad food)
I hate to ask, but did you perhaps forget about this on the stove?
Birthday (to traveller/player)
Happy birthday, my friend. Please, take this. Hmm? Yes, it’s one of my pearls - No matter the distance, so long as you have it, we are connected.
Feelings about Ascension: Intro
I have never been one for combat, but I am happy to lend my aid.
Feelings about Ascension: Building
Alright, that was a lie - I was once a warrior in my youth.
Feelings about Ascension: Climax
I have never been one to stand idle when asked for help.
Feelings about Ascension: Conclusion
